Annual Latin American Studies Lecture...

Description

Dr. Daniel Carroll Rodas, Distinguished Professor of Old Testament at Denver Seminary, will deliver the annual Latin American Studies lecture this year titled "Immigration and Christian Faith: Connecting our common humanity with Christian identify and mission." Dr. Carroll earned a PhD from the University of Sheffield in England, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary and a BA from Rice University. He is Guatemalan-American and taught for many years at El Seminario Teologico Centroamericano in Guatemala City, Guatemala, before going to Denver. Carroll is the author of Christians at the Border: Immigration, the Church, and the Bible. He is a member of the board of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and serves as their spokesperson on immigration. The Annual Latin American Studies Lecture series invites knowledgable speakers to campus to discuss popular and sometimes controversial subjects in today's society. The interdisciplinary program support varies across departments depending on the topic. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Latin American Studies and the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. For further information please contact Carolyn Tuttle, chairperson of the Latin American Studies Program at Lake Forest College , or Jennifer Aycock, Director of College Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.
