BEATING THE ROBOT How to get Your Re...

Description

Presented by: Lauren Milligan, CEO & Founder of ResuMAYDAY

You’ve got all the right skills and a great resume with a list of accolades and accomplishments. Yet chances are, no human will ever lay eyes on your resume. That is because many large organizations rely on applicant tracking systems, ATS, to help pre-filter resumes. The system works by scanning resumes for contextual keywords and key phrases, mathematically scoring them for relevance and sending only the most qualified ones through for human review. This saves HR managers’ time, but it also means that your application could slip through the cracks if you don’t format your resume just right or include the exact keywords the hiring manager is searching for.
In this session, learn key inside information to beat the ATS. Find out what trips up applicants the most, and how to avoid those pitfalls. This session will give you a better understanding of how these systems work and the skills to make sure your resume gets into a human’s hands.
After years of working in a corporate setting in recruiting and sales, Lauren Milligan started to have that ‘entrepreneurial bug’. In September of 2001, she left her comfy corporate job to start ResuMAYDAY. She also writes a TribLocal blog that covers job search and career advancement topics, is a frequent contributor to CareerBuilder.com articles, has been featured in several publications, and a guest on several talk shows.
