Francesca Caccini, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Isabella Leonarda, and Barbara Strozzi may not be household names--but once you are introduced to their music, you’ll remember them for a long time. Black Tulip is a multinational ensemble featuring Josefien Stoppelenburg, soprano (the Netherlands), Mirja Lorenz, recorders (Germany), Phillip W. Serna, violas da gamba (U.S.), and Joel Spears, lutes and theorbo (U.S.). Interdisciplinary by nature, Black Tulip’s innovative outside-of-the-box programming immerses audiences in vivid and dynamic multi-media experiences.
