Mission to Pluto: What We Learned fro...

Description

Mission to Pluto: What We Learned from New Horizons
Thursday, 6/13 at 7:00pm
What did we know about Pluto prior to the New Horizons mission? How was the mission planned and launched? Sean O’Hara from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago talks about the discoveries made on Pluto that changed what we know about the planet and its moon Charon. Mr. O’Hara will also review our discoveries from the recent flyby of Ultima Thule, the farthest closely imaged object in the Solar System, and how what we found there helps inform us about the history of comets and the formation of the Solar System.
