Alyssa Allgood has gained attention for “her technical control and creative imagination of her work (Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune). She has been described as an “impressive bop-oriented singer” by DownBeat Magazine and “an emerging talent of considerable strength” by The New York City Jazz Record. Her performance accolades include appearances at the world-famous Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase, Winter’s Jazz Club, the Chicago Jazz Festival in Chicago, the Jazz Estate in Milwaukee and Noce Jazz Club in Des Moines. She is the winner of several prestigious awards, including the Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition held in Washington D.C., was a finalist in several vocal competitions, including the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Voice Competition, and the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition in Switzerland, presided over by Al Jarreau.
